Immigrant with Personal Economic Means (Personal Income)

There are 3 different investments options to qualify for a residence in the Republic of Panama as Personal Economic means visa:
Option 1: A minimum investment of US$200,000 (two hundred thousand US Dollars) in a two year time deposit (or certificate of deposit or CD) in any bank in the Republic of Panama.
This time deposit (CD) account must be in the personal name of the applicant (not in the name of a company, foundation or trust). For each additional dependent the applicant must prove that he or she has enough income to support the general cost of living of each dependent.
Option 2: A minimum investment of US$200,000.00 (two hundred thousand US Dollars) in a titled property (real estate) in the Republic of Panama.
The titled property must be in the personal name of the applicant (not in the name of the company, foundation or trust). The applicant must also prove that he or she has an income to support his or her general cost of living. For each additional dependent the applicant must prove that he or she has enough income to support the general cost of living of each dependent.
Option 3: A minimum investment of US$120,000.00 (one hundred and twenty thousand US Dollars) in a two (2) year time deposit (or certificate of deposit or CD) at any bank in the Republic of Panama, plus a minimum invest of US$80,000.00 (eighty thousand US Dollars) in a titled property (real estate in the Republic of Panama).
The time deposit or CD account must be in the name of the applicant (not in the name of the company, foundation or trust), also the applicant must prove that he or she has an income to support his or her general cost of living. For each dependent the applicant must prove that he or she has enough income to support the general cost of living of each dependent.

Note:
  All documents which are issued overseas must be duly authenticated via Apostille or by the closest Panamanian Consulate or Embassy in the applicant's home country, and by the Panamanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Requirements to Obtain the Immigrant Visa as an Investor of Independent Personal Means (Personal Income) 

  1. Power of Attorney
  2. Good conduct police certificate issued at the place of residence (and spouse & dependents over 18 years of age if applicant, duly notarized and authenticated by the Panamanian consul or by the Apostille Convention.
  3. Original marriage certificate duly notarized and authenticated by the Panamanian Consul or by the Apostille Convention.
  4. Birth certificate duly notarized and authenticated by the Panamanian Consul or by the Apostille Convention.
  5. Six (6) passport sized photos.
  6. Good Health certificate issued by a licensed Panamanian hospital or clinic signed by a registered, licensed physician, indicating that the applicant and dependents have no contagious diseases and are in a good mental and physical condition.
  7. Letter of responsibility
  8. Complete the immigration form.
  9. Bank account certificate of deposit and the time deposit (options 1 and 3)
  10. Public Registry certificate of the title property and a registered copy of the purchase contract. (Options 1,2 and 3)
  11. Notarized photocopy of valid passport of the applicant (for the opening of the bank account /CD)
  12. Two original Financial Reference letters (These can be from any bank, brokerage firm, or Credit Union, for the opening of the bank account/CD).
  13. Two original commercial reference letters this can be from any company or professional (a company, attorney, accountant, etc.)(For the opening of the bank account/CD).

Note:  Where the applicant has dependents, the following documents should be included:  

  1. Each dependent of legal age should issue a Power of Attorney to the lawyer/law firm to represent them; parents should issue the Power of Attorney for any minor. 

  2. Certified Cheque or Cashier's Cheque for One Hundred balboas (B/.100.00) to the National Treasury for each dependent. 

  3. Certified cheque or cashier's cheque for Five Hundred balboas (B/. 500.00) in favour of the Ministry of Government & Justice, which is a repatriation deposit.   (1 balboa = 1 USD).  *Not required for dependents under 12 years of age. 

  4. Medical Certificate, issued no more than three (3) months previously to the presentation date Should have the signature and seal of the doctor, showing the doctor's name, code and medical registration number).

  5. AIDS/HIV test, taken no more than six (6) months previously to the presentation date.  (Should specify the method used, and have the signature and seal of the laboratory/technician, with their name, code and registration number).  (*Not required for those younger than 12 years old). 

  6. Police Record (Good Behaviour Certificate) from the applicant's country of origin (only where the applicant has lived for less than 5 years of continual residence in Panama). (*Not required for minors). 

  7. Police Record (Good Behaviour Certificate) from the local Panamanian police (P.T.J.)  (*Not required for minors). 

  8. Photocopy of the principal page of the passport, where the dependent's general details are.  

  9. Four (4) passport size photos for each dependent. 

  10. Original passport, valid for at least six months. 

  11. Certification of the complete names and nationalities of the parents of each applicant. 

  12. Letter of responsibility from the principal applicant for each of the dependents.  

  13. Evidence of Paternity: 

    Marriage Certificate

    Birth Certificate

Requirements to Obtain Permanent Residency with the Right to a Cédula, as an Investor of Independent Economic Means

  1. Power of Attorney and Application via an attorney/law firm.  

  2. Medical Certificate of good health, issued no more than three (3) months previously to the presentation date.  (Should have the signature and seal of the doctor, showing the doctor's name, code and medical registration number). 

  3. AIDS/HIV test, taken no more than six (6) months previously to the presentation date.  (Should specify the method used, and have the signature and seal of the laboratory/technician, with their name, code and registration number).  

  4. Police Record (Good Behaviour Certificate) from the local Panamanian police (P.T.J.) 

  5. Fotocopy of the passport page where the applicant's general details and photo appear.  

  6. Four (4) passport-size photos. 

  7. Original passport, which must be valid for at least six (6) months. 

  8. Certification of the complete names and nationalities of the applicant's parents. 

  9. Certificate of Good Standing of the applicant - by the tax authorities. 

  10. Expired Provisional Residency Permit. 

  11. Letter issued by the Local Bank, evidencing that the Applicant has a Term Deposit for at least one (1) year, with a minimum amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars (US$100,000.00), in which the term deposit account number is identified.  (Where the term deposit is different from the one originally presented for the Immigrant Visa Application, it is necessary to also present a duly authenticated copy of the CD or Term Deposit Contract). 

Note:  Where the applicant has dependents, the following documents should be included:
