Temporary Visitor - Government Contractor 

Upon being contracted by the Panamanian Government for a special project, it is possible to request a Temporary Visitor Visa as a Government Contractor. This Visa does not grant the visitor any rights to naturalisation nor to permanent residency in Panama. Please note that it is possible to request an extension of the visa. 

NOTE:  All documents which are issued overseas should be duly Apostilled or by the Panamanian Consulate or Embassy in the country in which they were issued and then by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Panama. 

Requirements to obtain a Temporary Visitor Visa as a Government Contractor 

  1. Power of Attorney and Application through a Lawyer.  

  2. Certified or Cashier's cheque payable to the National Treasury, for One Hundred Dollars (US$100.00 - equivalent to B/. 100.00) 

  3. Medical Certificate of Good Health, issued no more than three (3) months before the date of presentation. (Should be signed and be sealed, with the name, code and registration number of the doctor).

  4. HIV Test, taken no more than six (6) months before the presentation date. (Should specify the method used and have the sign and seal of the lab technician that did the test, with their name, code and registration number).

  5. Police Certificate of Good Conduct, from the applicant's country of origin - Only when the applicant has resided continuously in Panama for less than five years. 
  6. Police Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the Panamanian Technical Judicial Police (P.T.J.)  

  7. Certification of the full names of the Applicant's parents and their nationalities. 

  8. Photocopy of the passport page, where the general details of the applicant are shown.

  9. Four (4) passport-sized photos.

  10. Original passport, which must be valid for at least six more months.

  11. Contract duly certified by the National Comptroller's Office.  (If it is a copy, then it must be authenticated by the Comptroller's Office) 

NOTE:  Where the application includes dependents, then the following documents should also be included:

  1. Each dependent of legal age should issue a Power of Attorney to the lawyer/law firm to represent them; parents should issue the Power of Attorney for any minor. 

  2. Certified Cheque or Cashier's Cheque for One Hundred balboas (B/.100.00) to the National Treasury for each dependent. 

  3. Medical Certificate, issued no more than three (3) months previously to the presentation date Should have the signature and seal of the doctor, showing the doctor's name, code and medical registration number).

  4. AIDS/HIV test, taken no more than six (6) months previously to the presentation date.  (Should specify the method used, and have the signature and seal of the laboratory/technician, with their name, code and registration number).  (*Not required for those younger than 12 years old). 

  5. Police Record (Good Behaviour Certificate) from the applicant's country of origin (only where the applicant has lived for less than 5 years of continual residence in Panama). (*Not required for minors). 

  6. Police Record (Good Behaviour Certificate) from the local Panamanian police (P.T.J.)  (*Not required for minors). 

  7. Photocopy of the principal page of the passport, where the dependent's general details are.  

  8. Four (4) passport size photos for each dependent. 

  9. Original passport, valid for at least six months. 

  10. Certification of the complete names and nationalities of the parents of each applicant. 

  11. Letter of responsibility from the principal applicant for each of the dependents.  

  12. Evidence of Paternity: 

    1. Marriage Certificate

    2. Birth Certificate

  13. Letter of responsibility from the principal applicant for each of the dependents. 
  14. If the applicant is the child of a resident and has reached majority, then the following should be included: 
    1. If under twenty-six (26) years old, should provide the certification of their studies, or such document which shows that they are still a student . 
    2. If over wenty-six (26) years old, should provide a banking reference for the applicant.

Requirements to obtain an Extension of the Temporary Visitor Visa as a Government Contractor 

  1. Power of Attorney and Application through a Lawyer.  

  2. Medical Certificate of Good Health, issued no more than three (3) months before the date of presentation. (Should be signed and be sealed, with the name, code and registration number of the doctor).

  10. Reference Letter (on the Department's letterhead) of the State entity which has contracted them . 
  11. Butt or receipt of the cheque from the National Comptroller's Office, from the last month.
