Labour Law
Panamas labour relations are
regulated by a Labour Code, as well as ancillary laws and decrees, which set forth the
rights and obligations of labour and management. These include the right of labour to form
unions, strike and enter into collective bargaining agreements. This is a specialised area
in which the Firm is very well equipped to assist: its managing partner, Luis Shirley, is one of the authors of the Labour
Code.We have assisted its clients by advising as to the
requirements of the Labour Code and assisting in the negotiations of collective bargaining
agreements between management and labour. The Firm is also experienced in drafting
employment contracts, preparing and processing work permit applications, and representing
clients in labour disputes
